GALS IN JP RWEE
DUHAMIC-ADRI in partnership with IFAD, FAO and WFP has implemented the “Accelerating Progress Towards the Economic Empowerment of Rural Women (JP RWEE) project in Kamonyi and Musanze districts from 2016 to 2019.

To secure rural women’s livelihoods and rights in the context of sustainable development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Project Coverage
Key Achievements
- 2 cooperatives involved in maize and soybean have been selected and already financed by IFAD through MINAGRI;
- 2 cooperatives farmers organized in maize and soybean value chain have been selected and received finance support for to boosts their incomes generating activities;
- 125 women heads of households and 29 women volunteers trained on basic health and nutrition practices;
- 698 smallholder farmers were trained on household’s methodology known as GALS
- 182 beneficiaries received fruits (banana tree, tree tomatoes, papaya and avocado) among them 141 are households headed by women, 10 sites of fruits FFSs installed and managed by groups members
- DUHAMIC-ADRI has supported the GALS champion to establish the GALS network at district and national level;
