Improved Natural Resources Management for Sustainable Food Sources (INRM)

INRM is a 4-year project (2023-2027) funded by Trocaire and implemented by DUHAMIC-ADRI in Rulindo District.

Project Goal

To support poor and marginalized rural communities to become resilient to climate shocks by mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation

Key Achievements

BY 2024

-1,641 participants from 410 households were trained in agroecology principles.

-36,208 agroforestry and fruit trees were planted from 2 established community tree nurseries.

-941 community members were trained on rainwater harvesting approaches/trench making.

-155 households received 310 environmentally friendly cook stoves.

-34,040 kg of orange sweet potato cuttings were distributed and planted to promote the cultivation of this drought tolerant crop.

941 community members were trained to produce organic manure and established kitchen garden at household level.303 households received small livestock.

BY 2023
-Provided financial support to 187 female headed households to access pigs and goats.

-187 households were supported to access improved cooking stoves.

-Provide skills to the whole community in nurseries establishment and management for agroforestry trees including fruits
