
USAID Homes and Community Activity ( Uburezi Iwacu)
USAID Homes and Communities Activity locally known as Uburezi Iwacu is a five-year (2021-2026) USAID funded literacy activity and implemented by DUHAMIC-ADRI. The main goal is to ensure that all Rwandan children have literacy-supportive, stimulating and safe home and community environments.

Huye, Gisagara, Ruhango, Nyanza, Rusizi, Kamonyi, Muhanga, Nyaruguru, Nyamasheke and Nyamagabe Districts.
Key Achievements
By 2023
-1,314 community reading clubs were established and served 102,843 low primary children
-120,590 story books were distributed in reading clubs.
-2,502 reading club facilitators were trained on reading club functioning
-11,251 participants from community structure staff trained on inclusive education, child-centered pedagogy, differentiated instruction, and child protection.
By 2024
-4,930 community reading clubs were established and equipped to host 230,597 children
-4,006 parent peer support networks consisting of 254,690 members received positive parenting messages
-55,672 pre-primary children were supported and received ECD services
