USAID Ejo Heza
The USAID Integrated Improved Livelihoods Program (IILP), known locally as “Ejo Heza”, was a five year (2011-2015), Feed the Future program that improved the livelihoods of more than 17,500 smallholder farmers, this project was implemented by DUHAMIC-ADRI in partnership with Global Communities and Save the Children.

Key Achievements
- 11 maize, beans and horticulture cooperatives were strengthened and capacitated on cooperative management and equipped with post-harvest equipment’s.
- Construction of 36 drying sheds in Huye, Gisagara, Nyamagabe and Nyaruguru districts
- 1,235 vulnerable households received small livestock (rabbits, Poultry, pig and Goat) using animal fair approach.
- More than 1,255 kitchen gardens were established
- 35 Cows were distributed to the selected vulnerable families in Nyanza district
- More than 17,985 smallholder farmers acquired skills on Bio-intensive agriculture technics
