Egg Value Chain Project

The Egg Value Chain (EVC) Project is implemented by DUHAMIC-ADRI under the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) flagship programme, with the aim of combating Malnutrition in Rwanda through Sustainable Egg Production.

The programme seeks objective is to improve food and nutrition security by promoting sustainable, nutrition-sensitive food systems that increase the availability, accessibility, and consumption of nutritious foods, namely eggs, among vulnerable populations.

The project adopts a community-based implementation approach by organizing beneficiaries into Egg Producer Groups led by trained Lead Farmers, who serve as community extension agents and facilitate farmer-to-farmer learning. Through technical training, provision of improved SASSO chicks, regular extension support, strengthened linkages to veterinary and input service providers, and promotion of innovative low-cost feeding technologies, the project is establishing a sustainable and inclusive egg value chain that enables vulnerable households to improve poultry productivity under low-resource conditions.
